New Planet May Be Able to Nurture Organisms

According to New York Times, scientists - astronomers have recently discovered a planet containing water on its surface. This means that the planet which was named Gliese 581g can be a home for plants and animals. This discovery is unique, and considered as the main achievement of the decade. Unfortunately, in the near future astronauts will not be able to get on Gliese 581g, because this planet is located in 20 light-years from Earth in the constellation of Libra. The only way to observe and study the new planet is using the most advanced and powerful telescopes. Scientists don’t really know what is happening on the surface of Gliese 581g. We only know that the temperature on the planet is from 10 to minus 24 degrees Fahrenheit. This temperature is approximately equal to the temperature of a sunny day in Antarctica. Scientists have never met the planet that would be so similar as our Earth, and as one of the scientists say: the chances of life on Gliese 581g is almost equal to 100%
My opinion:
I have chosen this article for a study, because I believe that the discovery of new planets that could support life is truly a revolutionary achievement for all people. I believe that we are not alone in the universe, and somewhere we will find the living of wise and clever creatures. The first step in this side has already done by scientists who discovered the Gliese 581g.
Vocabulary:
1. Squirmed - adj., Squirmed means to feel uncomfortable and unpleasant, to be embarrassed, and to fidget.
Asked the same question, Dr. Butler squirmed and said, “I like data.”
2. Density - noun, Density means intensity of clusters and number of molecules in one particular place.
But they expressed caution about this particular planet, noting uncertainties about its density, composition and atmosphere, and the need for another generation of giant telescopes and spacecraft in order to find out anything more about it.
3. Launched - adj., Launched means to throw, fling something.
. NASA’s Kepler satellite — which was launched in March 2009 as a way to detect Earthlike bodies — is expected to harvest dozens or hundreds.
I love this news!!! It's kind of exciting, isn't it?! :-) haha!!! good job!!
ReplyDeleteDiscovering a new planet is a really big news, and also is a discovery of this space!!! :-o
thanks for sharing this!!!
This is very cool!! We have another planet that containing water! I agree with you that we are not alone!

ReplyDeleteI hope they can find a new planet which can provide life. I think we can have some good signal for that because I heard that they found a lot of planets. If scientists keep looking for a new planet, they will find a planet like Earth somehow in the future. Some of us today will be find many planets that we can live on. Everything can happen
